An "other" is someone who does not belong. A "brother" (or "sister") is someone who fits in like family. An "other" often feels alone in a crowd whereas a "brother" feels supported by his community. It all depends on whether we, as individuals and as groups, focus our attention on the differences between us or on the commonalities we share.
